Bottom

First of all, you lofting the bottom according to the plan and you should think about the place on plywood because the bottom and transom has to be togeher on the plywood. Also you think about the scarf part because this plywood is not long enough so we made a decision to give it 60mm for scarf. when you cut this cardbord, you should cut a bit longer than you drew it. "Longer is always good ! better than short ! " that's always chris say to us because if you make it bigger or longer, you can fix it but if it isn't, you won't. that's pretty important to student for learning.

this is the picture which we was scarfing the bottom as well as the transom. when you scarf these, you need to plane skill and before plane, you should make your plane sharp. Also make sure doesn't move the bottom which you scarf it. when you plane, you should plane strraight way. if you don't, the grain will be curve and doesn't fit.

when you glue it, you should on plastic up and under the wood because it just protect to scarf from another thisng such as sticky other piece of wood and dusty. After glue these, you should pressure the scarfing. if the glue squeeze, it will represent the pressur but don't too much glue it because after dry you have to sand it a lot of time.

Before the bottom on, you make sure all staions flat. Otherwise, it has a gap between bottom and stations. when you check it somthing heavier put on the ends of the bottom. It's easy to check and fast as well as doesn't need to many people. After mark which you going to plane or cut, you should make it fair and leave it longer, especially aft. I thimk cutting forward is ok as long as leave aft longer.
